CORTLAND, N.Y. – The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) is proud to announce the 2018 SUNYAC women's swimming and diving annual awards. Each year the conference coaches vote on these awards to honor the SUNYAC Swimmer of the Year, Diver of the Year, and Rookie of the Year.
Swimmer of the Year: Nancy Nasky, Geneseo
For the third year in a row Nasky, a junior from Brighton, N.Y. is defending her title as Swimmer of the Year. Nasky was also named the Outstanding Swimmer of the Meet at this year's SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships. During the championship she posted first place times in the 500 freestyle (5:01.27), 1650 freestyle (17:03.45), and was also on the first place 800 freestyle relay team (7:41.44). Her successful season led her to qualify for the NCAA Division III swimming and diving championship where she competed in three events with her best finish being 18th in the 1650 freestyle.
Diver of the Year: Meghann Kilgallon, Brockport
In her final season, the senior from Binghamton, Meghann Kilgallon has been named SUNYAC Diver of the Year. Kilgallon came in to the SUNYAC championship strong, winning the women's 1-meter dive with a score of 456.35, and placing second in the 3-meter dive with a score of 461.30. She went on to the NCAA Division III swimming and diving championship where she placed 14th overall in the 3-meter dive. As the most successful diver in Brockport's history Kilgallon has won two All-American accolades this season making for three overall.
Rookie of the Year: Lauren Siegel, Geneseo
After an impressive first collegiate season, freshman Lauren Siegel, from Cortlandt Manor, has been named Rookie of the Year. In her first appearance at the SUNYAC Championship she posted two individual first place finishes, and was on a first place relay team for the Knights. The two individual wins were in the 200 IM (2:06.31) and the 400 IM (4:33.97). Siegel was also on the first place 400 medley relay team which had a time of 3:54.44.
