Van Pelt, Aiello named Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week

CORTLAND, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected the weekly awards for women's volleyball. New Paltz junior Madison Van Pelt has been named Offensive Athlete of the Week and Fredonia senior Rachel Aiello was named the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Van Pelt helped the Hawks to four wins over the weekend, losing just two sets during that stretch. She had 21 kills in a 3-2 win against Hamilton on Saturday.

Aiello, a senior from Baldwinsville, N.Y., recorded 79 digs in three weekend matches at Vassar. She was also credited with nine aces. Aiello leads the Blue Devils (5-2) with 141 digs this season, with an average of 4.86 per set.
