Cortland Sweeps SUNYAC Men's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Cortland completed a sweep of this week's Men's Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week awards, with Josh Jeffes taking home the award for track, and Isaiah Brunache taking home the award for field for the second week in a row.
Jeffes broke his own school record in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.17 seconds at the Cortland Classic. He finished first out of 33 competitors and currently ranks eighth nationally in Division III. In addition, Jeffes won the 200-meter dash in 21.25 seconds, which ranks 11th nationally, and he anchored the winning 4x400-meter relay team that set both SUNYAC and school records with their time of 3:10.32. The previous SUNYAC record dated back to 1983, and their time currently ranks third nationally.
Brunache broke both the SUNYAC and school record in the shot put with his winning distance of 17.77 meters at the Cortland Classic. The previous SUNYAC record was set in 1983. A total of 36 athletes competed in the event. Brunache also won the discus in a field of 46 competitors with a toss of 50.82 meters, which ranks 12th nationally.
