Cortland Ranked No. 1 in SUNYAC Baseball Preseason Poll
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC has released its 2023 baseball coaches preseason poll with Cortland voted No. 1 followed by Oswego and Brockport.
Cortland finished the 2022 regular season No. 2, but went on to win its 36th overall SUNYAC championship title. The Red Dragons defeated Bridgewater State and Edicottt to advance to the NCAA Regional championship series, but fell to Endicott to end their season 35-12 overall.
Oswego was the top seed after SUNYAC regular season play and earned the right to host the championship. The Lakers beat Plattsburgh in their first game, but were eliminated from the tournament losing to Cortland and Brockport. Oswego earned an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament. They won the Glenside, Pa Regional championship and advanced to the Super Regionals. The Lakers went 0-2 to end their season 33-13 overall.
Brockport advanced to the 2022 SUNYAC final series as the No. 3 seed, but lost Cortland. The Golden Eagles recieved an at-large bid into the NCAA tournament and hosted the Regionals. The team went 0-2 in regional play, ending the season 33-11 overall.
2023 regular season conference games will start March 24 and the SUNYAC baseball championship is set for May 11-14 at the top seed.
