SWIMMING AND DIVING NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS
Geneseo's Samuel Randall took home the national championship title in the 3-meter dive this week at the 2016 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving National Championships that took place March 16-19.
INDIANAPOLIS - Geneseo's Samuel Randall took home the national championship title in the 3-meter dive this week at the 2016 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving National Championships that took place March 16-19. Nine State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) swimmers and divers competed in the championship meet at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, North Carolina.
The three female divers representing the SUNYAC put on a show in the 1-meter dive finals. Fredonia's Meghan Bartlett had an outstanding performance that earned her second place in the nation with a score of 444.75. Brockport's Meghan Kilgallon finished seventh overall with a preliminary score of 416.15 and a finals score of 405.25, Cortland's Miranda Fergus finished 16th overall with a score of 383.00.
Bartlett also finished third in the 3-meter dive while Miranda Fergus placed 17th and Meghan Kilgallon earned 23rd.
Four men represented the SUNYAC conference in the diving championships. In the 3-meter dive Geneseo's Randall had a first place championship score of 533.75. Fredonia's Arron Carlson earned fifth overall with a score of 511.00. Fredonia's Rafael Santiago finished 15thand Brockport's Gabe Arias placed 18th .
In the Men's 1- meter dive Arron Carlson scored a 521.75 good enough for second overall. Samuel Randall took home third place, while Carlson's teammate Rafael Santiago took ninth overall, and Brockport's Gabe Arias placed 19th.
Buffalo State's Connor Mergler competed in the 50, 100, and 200 yard freestyle events. He finished fourth in the 100 yard free in 44.30 and sixth in the 50 free with a time of 20.45. He also finished 16th overall in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:40.90.
Geneseo freshman Nancy Nasky placed 16th in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:07.27. She also placed 30th overall in the Women's 500 freestyle and 41st in the 200 free.
