Scher recorded a time of 25:54 (5:13 mile pace) to place fourth overall and first for the Hawks at Saturday's Connecticut College 8K Invitational at Harkness Memorial State Park, bettering his mark at the 2013 Connecticut College Invite by 54 seconds. By virtue of finishing in the top-15, Scher earned All-Invitational honors. New Paltz ran with three regionally-ranked squads and one nationally-ranked program and bested all but one of the teams. The Hawks finished fifth of 18 teams with an average time of 26:45 which was better overall than Tufts University, the No. 31 team in the nation and No. 7 in the New England Region, according to the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). The Hawks also finished higher than the University of Mary Washington, ranked No. 10 in the South/Southeast Region.
