Cardinal Basketball Players Take Part in Jump Rope for Health at Oak Street Elementary
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – On Thursday afternoon, members of the Plattsburgh State men's basketball team joined scores of youngsters from Oak Street Elementary School to take part in an hour-long jump roping contest to promote a healthy lifestyle for kids.
Anthony Baker, Edward Correa, Mike Mitchell, Owen Mitchell, Alan Siergiej and head coach Tom Curle were on hand in the elementary school gymnasium and led 14 teams of kids who were present to spend a portion of their time after school jumping rope and hula hooping.
The Cardinals also distributed team photos to all of the children in attendance. Spearheaded by Oak Street Elementary School physical education instructor Annmarie Curle, the event has been held near or on Valentine's Day and encourages kids to get at least 60 minutes of physical activity each day in order to achieve a healthy body and mind.Â
