Cortland Repeats as SUNYAC Men's Basketball Champions
CORTLAND, N.Y. - No. 1 Cortland defeated No. 3 Oswego, 84-51, to win it's second-straight SUNYAC men's basketball championship title Saturday. This is the Red Dragons eighth overall conference crown. With the win Cortland earned an automatic berth into the NCAA DIII men's basketball tournament.
Aaron Coston was named the SUNYAC Men's Basketball Tournament MVP after contributing 47 points, 16 rebounds, eight assists, three blocks and a steal in the two games for the Red Dragons.
Elite 20
An award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
Before the semifinal game on Friday night, the SUNYAC recognized Oswego's Gary McLane as this year's Men's Basketball Elite 20 winner. McLane is a sophomore finance major with a 3.90 cumulative GPA.
