Ethan Francey Recognized as 2026 SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Plattsburgh's Ethan Francey has been named the 2026 SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Scholar Athlete of the Year as nominated and voted on by the conference sports information directors.
Francey, the sophomore midfielder, finished the 2026 season fourth on the team in points with 21 (10 goals, 11 assists), showcasing his versatility as both a scorer and facilitator. Defensively, he ranked second on the team with 28 caused turnovers (fourth in the conference) and added a team third-best 45 ground balls. Francey's top offensive performance came against Canton on Apr. 18, when he led the team with a season-high five points on a season-high four goals and an assist. On the defensive side, he recorded a season- and team-high six caused turnovers against New Paltz on Mar. 28 and collected a season-high five ground balls against Oswego State on Apr. 3. Over the course of the season, he earned two SUNYAC Defensive Athlete of the Week honors and one United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Team of the Week selection. At the conclusion of the season, he was named to the All-SUNYAC First Team.
Francey is a finance major with a 3.96 cumulative GPA. He was named to the SUNYAC Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll last year.
In order to be eligible for the SUNYAC Scholar Athlete of the Year award student-athletes must prove both academic and athletic excellence by obtaining a minimum 3.30 overall GPA, be a starter or significant reserve for their team, and be at least a sophomore. The SUNYAC Scholar Athlete Award began in 2016-17.
