Plattsburgh and Cortland Ranked in DIII NFCA Preseason Poll
The SUNY Plattsburgh and SUNY Cortland softball teams are ranked nationally in Division III in the preseason poll released by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
Plattsburgh State, ranked 12th, ended the 2012 season 35-11 overall and returned to the Division III Softball Championships for the first time since 2007. The Cardinals placed seventh nationally after falling in an elimination game, 7-1, to Tufts University.
Cortland, ranked 24th, finished 41-10 last season and competed in the NCAA tournament for the fifth straight season and 18th time overall. Cortland tied for 17th nationally after placing third at an NCAA regional at Amherst College. The Red Dragons have won at least 40 games each of the past four years.
