Babson Park, MA — For the fourth consecutive season, the State University of New York at New Paltz will compete for a national championship.
The Hawks (23-4 overall, 18-0 SUNYAC) were awarded an at-large bid into the 2023 NCAA DIII National Tournament and will face Gettysburg College in round one Friday at 5 p.m. at Babson College. The winner will move onto round two against either the hosting Beavers or Maine Maritime Saturday at 7:15 p.m.
SUNY New Paltz made program history this past season, going 18-0 in the SUNYAC for the first time ever to earn the top seed in the tournament where it made its fourth-consecutive SUNYAC finals appearance. The Hawks fell in a tight game against No. 2 Cortland, 57-52, but a historic season continues with sights set of getting back into the NCAA Sweet 16 round where they've been twice over the course of their last six seasons — and hopefully beyond.
SUNY New Paltz will match up against a Bullets team that went 21-6 overall and 16-4 in the Centennial Conference before defeating Johns Hopkins in the conference championship game Sunday to earn an automatic bid.
