Oswego Earns Top Spot in SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Preseason Poll
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Oswego has been voted No. 1 in the 2026 SUNYAC women's lacrosse preseason poll. The poll is voted on by the 10 conference coaches. Cortland is ranked No. 2 and New Paltz follows at No. 3.
In 2025, Oswego was the No. 1 seed going into the SUNYAC tournament after finishing regular season conference play undefeated (9-0). The team advanced to the SUNYAC final and defeated Cortland, 12-8, to win its first-ever women's lacrosse conference championship crown. The Lakers ended their season in the first round of the NCAA tournament with an overall record of 15-3. Oswego will play to defend the title and win its second SUNYAC women's lacrosse trophy in 2026.
Cortland was the No. 2 seed after regular season play and advanced to the SUNYAC final in 2025. The Red Dragons finished their season 11-7 overall. In 2026, Cortland will compete to win its 25th overall SUNYAC women's lacrosse championship.
New Paltz finished the regular season ranked No. 3 last season. The Hawks advanced to the semifinals and ended their season 13-5 overall. New Paltz looks to win its first-ever SUNYAC women's lacrosse title this season.
Women's lacrosse conference competition will begin March 21. The 2026 SUNYAC women's lacrosse championship tournament will begin April 25. The semifinals and final are set for April 29 and May 2 respectively. View the full 2026 SUNYAC women's lacrosse championship bracket here.
