Cortland wins 2026 SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse Championship Crown
OSWEGO, N.Y. - Cortland beat Oswego, 9-4, to win its 25th overall SUNYAC women's lacrosse championship crown, Saturday at Oswego's Laker Turf Stadium. With the win the Red Dragons earned an automatic berth into the 2026 NCAA Division III women's lacrosse tournament.
Ashley Melillo was named the 2026 SUNYAC Women's Lacrosse MVP after scoring five goals and adding four assists, five caused turnovers and six ground balls in the two tournament games.
Elite 20
The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers.
This year Cortland's Chelsey Weber repeats as the Women's Lacrosse Elite 20 winner. Weber is a senior Biology major with a 3.97 overall GPA.
