Cortland's Pittman and McPeek Earn SUNYAC Women's Track & Field Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Cortland's Autumn Pittman and Cheyenne McPeek have been named SUNYAC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, following their performances at the Cortland Red Dragon Open.
Pittman claimed victory in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. She finished 1st in the 100 meters with a time of 12.14 seconds, besting a field of 31 competitors, and followed that up with a 1st place finish in the 200 meters, posting a time of 25.04 seconds in a competitive field of 47 athletes. Both of Pittman's times are AARTFC qualifiers and rank in the top 50 nationally.
McPeek was a standout in the throws, capturing 1st place in the discus with a toss of 37.65 meters , defeating 24 other athletes. She also finished 3rd in the hammer throw with a throw of 47.29 meters, which qualifies her for the AARTFC. McPeek rounded out her impressive day with a 5th-place finish in the shot put at 11.05 meters.
