Wittman and Martens Named SUNYAC Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC picks Ella Wittman from Buffalo State and Mikenzie Martens from Cortland as its final Women's Volleyball Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week of the 2024 season respectively.
Wittman was a force for the Bengals offense totaling 55 kills, seven service aces, three blocks, and 30 digs in wins over Hilbert, Geneseo, and John Carroll. Wittman capped-off her strong season with a career-high 23 kills against Geneseo and 20 against John Carroll. She also registered a .277 attack percentage across the three wins.
Martens averaged 6.4 digs per set in two Cortland wins to close out the regular season. She finished with 23 digs in a three-set sweep of nationally 19th-ranked Ithaca and had 22 digs in a four-set win over Nazareth, also at Ithaca. Martens also had 40 service receptions with no errors over the two matches.
