SUNYAC Athletes Named ECAC Runners of the Week
Two State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Cross Country Runner of the Week recipients have been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) NCAA Division III Metro/Upstate Cross Country Runners of the Week for the week ending Oct. 7.
Senior Nichole Wischoff (Cooperstown, N.Y.) of the State University of New York at New Paltz placed first in a 172-person field at the Saratoga Invitational on Saturday and helped the Hawks to a seventh-place finish out of 12 teams. She clocked a time of 17:47.62 in the 3.04-mile race. It was Wischoff’s second win of the season, as she also crossed first at the New Paltz Invitational on Aug. 31.
SUNY Cortland senior Tom Hopkins (Syracuse, N.Y.) finished first in a field of 112 runners at the St. Lawrence University Hoffman Invitational on Saturday. His winning time of 25:55.86 over 8,000 meters was more than three seconds ahead of the next finisher. Hopkins led a sweep of the top three individual spots by the nationally 16th-ranked Red Dragons, who are ranked 16th nationally in Division III.
