Kyle Clancy Named Head Men's Soccer Coach
NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The State University of New York at New Paltz is pleased to announce Kyle Clancy, who started The Sage Colleges' men's soccer program from its inception in 2009, as its new head men's soccer coach.

"This is a special moment for our department," New Paltz Director of Athletics, Wellness & Recreation Stuart Robinson said. "Knowing that Kyle started his coaching career here makes this especially significant. When Kyle began his coaching career, I always knew that he would become a good coach, but I had no idea just how talented a coach he would become. Given his professionalism, commitment and desire to become our next coach, it is a very gratifying outcome. Kyle's success at Sage has been a testament to the potential that he displayed as an assistant, then as a head coach. It is because of those strengths that we look forward to seeing Kyle at New Paltz and as the head coach of our men's soccer team."

Clancy, who served as an assistant men's soccer coach at New Paltz for three seasons before his time at Sage, constructed one of the Skyline Conference's top men's soccer programs, which culminated in the Gators' first-ever conference title and first-ever NCAA Division III Tournament appearance in 2015. Clancy, the 2015 Skyline Conference Coach of the Year, has achieved an overall career record of 65-39-11 for a .613 win percentage at Sage while winning two regular-season Skyline Conference championships and an ECAC Upstate Tournament championship.

During his time at Sage, he recruited and coached 15 First-Team All-Conference selections and seven Second-Team All-Conference honorees in addition to the 2013 Skyline Conference Player of the Year, the 2014 and 2015 Skyline Conference Defensive Players of the Year and the 2015 Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year. He also recruited and coached seven National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-East Region honorees in addition to one NSCAA Scholar All-American and one College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American.

In addition to his duties as the head men's soccer coach at Sage, Clancy served as an assistant athletic director and the athletic facilities coordinator.

Prior to Sage, Clancy worked as an assistant coach at New Paltz from 2006-09. During his time at New Paltz, the Hawks produced four All-State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) recipients. His first season as an assistant came during Robinson's final year as the program's head coach.

A member of the NSCAA, he holds an NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and an NSCAA National Diploma. He also represented the Skyline Conference on the NSCAA ranking committee and the NCAA ranking committee.

"First off, I would like to thank Stuart and the search committee for the opportunity to come back home to New Paltz," Clancy said. "It's very exciting to have the chance to lead a program that means so much to me. New Paltz was the foundation for my coaching career. My experiences here helped tremendously in my development as a coach and prepared me for the tough task of starting the men's soccer program at The Sage Colleges. It's great to come full circle and have the opportunity to develop the New Paltz men's soccer team into a SUNYAC contender on a consistent basis. With the hard work Coach Ventriglia had done the last few years and the current state of the program, I know we are ready to compete for a championship right away."

Clancy was a four-year starter at Dominican (N.Y.) College from 2002-05, earning four Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) First-Team All-Star honors. He finished his career as a two-time CACC Player of the Year and a one-time NSCAA First-Team All-New England Region honoree. Clancy currently ranks second all-time in Dominican history in career goals scored (75) and career points (171). After college, he played five years of semi-professional soccer with three different teams in the Northeast.
