SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Oneonta's Julia Serena and Emily Brown have been named SUNYAC softball athlete and pitcher of the Week, following standout performances that helped the Red Dragons go 2-0 in a weekend of conference play. The awards are for contests played between April 1-6.
Serena delivered an explosive offensive performance that fueled Oneonta's two-game sweep of Canton. The senior catcher and first baseman went 8-for-9 over the doubleheader, launching 4 home runs and driving in 12 RBI across the 2 contests. In game 1, she posted a perfect 5-for-5 outing with two home runs in the 1st inning alone, helping Oneonta to a victory. Serena continued her dominance in game 2, going 3-for-4 with 2 more home runs and 5 RBI's in a 13-0 win. Brown turned in one of the most dominant pitching performances in program history, throwing her first career no-hitter and setting a new school record with 14 strikeouts in a win over Canton. The sophomore was untouchable in the circle, going 5 full innings without allowing a hit and giving up just 3 walks.
