Rosick and Waldon Take SUNYAC Softball Weekly Awards After Historic Performances
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Potsdam's Alexys Rosick and New Paltz's Sydney Waldon have been named the SUNYAC Softball Athlete and Pitcher of the Week after leading their teams to dominant conference showings.
Rosick was a driving force behind Potsdam's 6-0 week, including a perfect 4-0 mark in SUNYAC play. The junior infielder hit .522 (12-for-23) at the plate, slugged .696, and finished the stretch with 10 RBI, 10 runs scored, and five stolen bases. Rosick played a major role in keeping Potsdam in the playoff hunt with her consistent bat and aggressive base running.
Waldon had a historic week for New Paltz, cementing her place in program history. The senior pitcher set a new single-game strikeout record with 17 in a one-hit, complete-game shutout over Canton. She followed that performance by tossing a no-hitter in Game 1 against Oswego, striking out 12 batters. Waldon later closed out Game 2 versus Oswego, preserving a 2-1 win with a save. She capped her incredible week by retiring all 21 batters without allowing a single base runner on to record just the second ever perfect game in program history on Senior Day. In total, Waldon allowed just one hit and seven walks over 22 innings, striking out 48 batters, posting a 0.00 ERA, and recording a 0.41 WHIP across four appearances.
