Williams chosen as ECAC DIII Upstate Co-Player of the Week
DANBURY, Conn. – Fresh off being named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week, Plattsburgh State senior forward Reggie Williams found himself on the receiving end of another weekly award as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) named the Yonkers, N.Y., product its DIII Upstate Co-Player of the Week late Tuesday.
The award is the second in as many days and just the second weekly laurel in Williams' four-year career. On Dec. 31, 2014, at Keene State, the forward took the court and produced one of the finest performances of his career, netting a game-high 22 points and hustling down 10 rebounds to help Plattsburgh State hand the Owls their first defeat of the season via a 99-94 score.
It was the second consecutive double-double for Williams who also added four blocked shots, two steals and a pair of assists to his line. The SUNYAC's leader in blocked shots with 1.9 per outing, Williams is also one of the most efficient field goal shooters in all of NCAA Division III men's basketball. Putting in buckets at a clip of 60.8-percent (48-for-79), Williams ranks 36th when stacked up against every other player in the nation.
After suffering a 63-53 Tuesday night setback to NESCAC foe Middlebury College, Williams and the rest of the Cardinals will hit the road as SUNYAC plays begins once again. Friday night will see the Cardinals travel to Fredonia, N.Y., to take on Fredonia State at 5:30 p.m.
