Geneseo's Lyons receives top honors from D3hoops and NABC
The 2015 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Year Gordon Lyons has been selected to the 2015 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Coaches' Division III All-America first team. He was also named the D3hoops.com 2015 Men's All-East Region Player of the Year and NABC East District Player of the Year.
In addition, Lyons was named to the D3hoops.com first team and to the NABC East first team. He finished the 2014-15 season with 12.6 rebounds per game, leading the nation. The Amherst, New York native averaged 20.6 points per game on the season. He finishes his career in third place on the all-time scoring list with 1,626 points, second in rebounds with 1,015, and is only the second player in program history to attain 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
Fredonia's Ian Helps was named D3hoops.com All-East Region Rookie of the Year. Helps averaged 14 points and 8.7 rebounds per game and converted 53.8 percent of his field goals.
Oswego's Brian Sortino was selected to the NABC first team and the D3hoops.com second team.
Oneonta's Zach Mager, and Plattsburgh's Reggie Williams were named to the D3hoops.com second team while Williams was also honored on the NABC second team. Buffalo State's Chris Cartwright was named to the D3hoops.com third team.
