Sparks Tabbed SUNYAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Jeremiah Sparks from Oswego has been chosen as the SUNYAC Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week for the week ending January 22.
Sparks had another dominating weekend as he led the Lakers to two SUNYAC victories against Oneonta and New Paltz. In 38 minutes played against the Red Dragons of Oneonta, Sparks went 11-20 from the field (55%), including going 3 for 5 from beyond the arc for a respectable 60 percent shooting accuracy. In the 2021 SUNYAC Championship rematch, Sparks went 6 for 6 from the free throw line, had three rebounds and 31 total points in the 76-68 victory. Sparks collected 40.8 percent of the Lakers points in the contest. The next day the Lakers took on the Hawks of New Paltz, in this contest, Sparks played 25 total minutes, shot 60 percent from the field total and 75% from the free throw line. With eight defensive rebounds, four assists and one steal, Sparks put up 15 points in the 106-75 victory in only just over a half of playing time.
