D3hoops.com Announces 2013 Women's All-East Region Team
Three State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's basketball players have been named to the D3hoops.com 2013 Women's All-East Region Teams. Geneseo senior guard Melissa Graham (Orchard Park, NY) and Plattsburgh State junior forward Kathleen Payne (Goshen, NY) earned first team accolades while State University of New York at New Paltz senior forward Alex McCullough (Delmar, NY) was named to the second team.
Graham was the 2013 SUNYAC Player of the Year as well as an All-Conference First Team member. She helped lead Geneseo to a second place conference finish in the regular season. The Knights made it to the SUNYAC final where No. 1 New Paltz outlasted them, 64-53. Graham was named to the All-Tournament Team.
Payne was also named to the All-Conference First Team. She finished the season second in the conference with 404 points. In the SUNYAC Tournament, Payne helped lead No. 5 Plattsburgh past No. 4 Oneonta, but fell to No. 1 New Paltz in the semifinal. Payne was named to the SUNYAC All-Tournament Team.
McCullough becomes the first-ever New Paltz women’s basketball player in program history to earn All-Region honors.This award comes in addition to her First-Team All-SUNYAC accolade. She finished third in the conference in blocked shots per game. McCullough helped lead the Hawks to its first-ever SUNYAC Title. Following the 2013 SUNYAC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament, she was named to the All-Tournament Team.
