Alyshia Crawford selected to play for USA All-Star Team
SUNY Oneonta senior-to-be, Alyshia Crawford, will be joining a group of athletes from across the country in representing the USA on a tour of Europe to play basketball from May 23-June 1. The 10-player team, which is made up of women from all Divisions within the NCAA, will compete in Austria, Italy and the Czech Republic.
The tour is part of USA Athletes International, which organizes college teams and All-Star teams, to play and compete all over the world in 15 different sports.
The tour begins in Vienna, Austria where the team will practice for a day before competing in the Pentacost Tournament over three days. The team will then travel to Brno, Czech Republic for a single game. The trip concludes in Italy where the team will tour Venice before returning to the United States.
The team will spend time touring Vienna and the Alps as part of their journey along with taking a ride on the gondola while in Italy.
“I feel very honored to have even been selected for this experience,” said Crawford. “I'm just glad that I can go play overseas and develop more as a player before my senior season. I'm excited to be competing with athletes from all over the country and from different NCAA divisions. I'm thrilled that I will be doing two of my favorite things at one time, playing basketball and traveling. I'm thankful to have the opportunity to represent our college and our country with the letters USA on my chest.”

About USAAI
USAAI has been participating in international competition since 1992. Originally called the Midwest All-Stars, the organization provided overseas playing opportunities to baseball players. The success of that program eventually prompted requests from abroad for other sporting teams to participate. In 1998 the organization incorporated and received its 501(c)(3) nonprofit status (available upon request), changing its name to USA Athletes International. We now support a total of 15 different sports that compete in 25 different countries throughout the world.
