Mike Weakley Named ECAC Player of the Week
Sophomore Mike Weakley (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) batted .421 (8-for-19) and drove in 10 runs as The College at Brockport’s baseball team went 5-0 for the week ending April 10, 2011. Weakley, Brockport’s Male Athlete of the Week, was honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) as its Division III Upstate Player of the Week.
Weakley, an infielder, had 10 RBI through his first 17 games and matched that total during Brockport’s five games last week.
Weakley got the week off to a fast start, belting a two-run home run over the left-field fence in the bottom of the first inning of Brockport's 9-4 Game One win over Fredonia Thursday afternoon. It was Weakley's first home run of the season, and second of his career. He also drove in two runs during Brockport’s 6-3 Game Two win over Fredonia and added three more RBI during a 12-3 Game One win over Oswego Saturday afternoon.
Weakley has hit safely in Brockport’s last eight games and he sports a .353 batting average (30-for-85) with 20 RBI, 15 runs scored and 10 stolen bases.
Brockport (17-7 overall, 6-4 State University of New York Athletic Conference) defeated Fredonia 9-4 and 6-3 on Thursday, routed Oswego 12-3 and 8-0 Saturday and blanked Oswego 11-0 on Sunday.
