Michael Mahay Earns Baseball All-America Honors
SUNY Cortland senior pitcher Michael Mahay (Whitesboro) has been selected to the 2011 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings Division III All-America third team .
Mahay finished the season with a 7-0 record, a 1.76 ERA and one save in 12 appearances, 10 as a starter. In 66 and one third innings, he allowed 53 hits and 12 walks and struck out 53 batters. Opponents recorded only a .218 batting average against him.
Cortland finished the season with a 36-10 record. The Red Dragons won the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title and made their 19th straight NCAA tournament appearance – the longest active streak nationally in Division III. Cortland finished second at the New York regional and tied for ninth place nationally.
