Cortland's Mistretta and Brockport's Bardenett chosen as Players of the Week
College at Brockport junior James Bardenett (Syracuse/Henniger) and SUNY Cortland junior Bryan Mistretta (Commack/Commack) have been selected as the SUNYAC Pitcher and Player of the Week respectively.
Bardenett improved to 9-2 on the season after pitching eight strong innings in a 2-1 win against Oneonta State this past Friday. His nine wins ties the single season record for the Golden Eagles.
Mistretta drove in the tying run in the bottom of the eighth inning and hit the game-winning RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning as Cortland rallied from a 2-0 deficit to defeat New Paltz, 3-2, in the first game of a doubleheader this past Saturday. He then hit his first collegiate home run in the nightcap in a 2-0 win over the Hawks. On Sunday, he went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI in a 15-5 win to complete the three-game sweep of the Hawks.
