Corrigan and Leib Tabbed SUNYAC Field Hockey Athletes of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Cortland's Hanna Corrigan takes the first 2024 SUNYAC Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week award while Oneonta's Maura Leib earns Defensive Athlete of the Week recognition.
Corrigan registered two goals and two assists in a 2-0 week for the nationally 15th-ranked Red Dragons. She began by scoring Cortland's final goal in a 3-1 win over visiting Montclair State on Friday. On Sunday, also at home, she rang up a goal and two assists in a 4-3 overtime win over 18th-ranked Franklin & Marshall. Corrigan scored the game-winning goal 1:49 into overtime as well as assisting on the tying goal with 1:14 left in regulation.
Leib finished with 16 saves for a .842 save percentage, allowed 1.31 goals against and helped SUNY Oneonta go 2-0 in the season opening week. The Red Dragons started the season against Utica where Leib tallied four saves in a 2-1 victory. On Saturday, Oneonta defeated St. Lawrence 3-2 in double overtime as Leib recorded 12 saves total, making five stops in the first overtime period.
