Tama and Morgan Named SUNYAC Field Hockey Athletes of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Rachel Tama from New Paltz earns her third-straight SUNYAC Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week honors. Cortland's Emma Morgan takes the Defensive Athlete of the Week award.
Tama continued her prolific offensive season, leading the Hawks with five goals and two assists for 12 points on the week in back-to-back wins for the Hawks. Against FDU-Florham, Tama scored the game winner while also adding an assist with six shots in a 3-0 win. She then registered four goals, including the game-winner, with one assist in an 8-0 win over Oswego. Tama's nine points recorded was tied for third-most is single-season program history.
Morgan recorded a .933 save percentage and a 0.50 goals against average while stopping 14-of-15 shots on goals last week. The junior goalie made eight saves in a 3-0 shutout victory over Marywood on Saturday, including a triple save in the second quarter to preserve a one-goal advantage. Morgan also had a strong performance for Cortland on Wednesday against #8 York, making six saves on seven shots.
