Ettere and Leib Named SUNYAC Field Hockey Athletes of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC picks Cortland's Keirra Ettere as its Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week and Oneonta's Maura Leib as its Defensive Athlete of the Week.
Ettere takes the SUNYAC Field Hockey Offensive Athlete of the Week honor for the second time this season after she scored six points on three goals, including two game-winning goals last week. The senior netted the opening goal in a 5-1 win at St. Lawrence on Wednesday, and then added an insurance goal for Cortland's third goal. On Saturday, Ettere scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead Cortland to a 1-0 victory over Skidmore, blasting a shot from the right side inside of the circle.
Leib is being honored as the SUNYAC Field Hockey Defensive Athlete of the Week for the third time this season. She finished with 20 saves for an .870 save percentage, averaged 1.50 goals allowed, and picked up her fourth shutout of the season in Oneonta's 1-1 week. The junior keeper shut down Hartwick and recorded 14 saves for a 1-0 victory over the Hawks. Leib finished the regular season with a six-save performance against RPI.
