USILA Picks Massaria as Division III North Defensive Player of the Week
Massaria, who hails from Floral Park, N.Y., helped the Cardinals tie the program record for the best start over 12 games in program history by putting forth a pair of sterling efforts in net. Last Wednesday in a non-conference battle against St. Lawrence, Massaria played all 60 minutes and made 12 saves in the Cardinals' 11-7 triumph.
The win was the second-straight over the Saints for Plattsburgh State and marked just the second time in program history that the Cardinals bested that particular North Country nemesis.
Massaria returned to the Field House Lacrosse Complex on Saturday afternoon and could seemingly do no wrong in the Cardinals' first home SUNYAC tilt of 2015. In a 16-6 triumph over SUNY Geneseo, he turned aside 13 shots on goal in 57 minutes of action and helped the Cardinals score their most lopsided win ever over the Knights.
Along with the rest of his teammates, Massaria will return to the turf on Saturday afternoon when Plattsburgh State welcomes No. 13-ranked SUNY Cortland to town for a 1 p.m. SUNYAC bout with conference-leading implications on the line.
