Rothman and Lembo of Cortland Earn SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Cortland's Sam Rothman and Christian Lembo have been recognized with the SUNYAC men's lacrosse weekly awards for their outstanding performances in a 2-0 week for the nationally 18th-ranked Red Dragons.
Rothman led the offense with 11 points on 6 goals and 5 assists while also collecting 6 ground balls. The senior midfielder was instrumental in Cortland's 16-12 victory over St. John Fisher, tallying 4 goals, 3 assists, and 4 ground balls. Earlier in the week, he added 2 goals, 2 assists, and a caused turnover in a 10-7 road win against Muhlenberg, surpassing 100 career points in the process.
Lembo had a pair of strong performances in a 2-0 week for the Red Dragons. He recorded six caused turnovers, 6 ground balls, and also provided 1 assist, while helping lead the Cortland defense that allowed a 9.50 GAA for the week. The senior had 4 caused turnovers and picked up 2 ground balls in a 16-12 home victory over St. John Fisher on Saturday afternoon. He also recorded 2 caused turnovers, 4 ground balls, and provided a crucial assist by sprinting 40 yards down the field for a successful clear and then made a great pass leading to a goal in a 10-7 win at Muhlenberg on Wednesday.
