Rothman and Bowen of Cortland Named SUNYAC Men’s Lacrosse Athletes of the Week
SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Cortland's Sam Rothman and Dino Bowen have been named the SUNYAC Men's Lacrosse Offensive and Defensive Athletes of the Week, respectively, following two standout performances that helped the nationally 18th-ranked Red Dragons secure a pair of wins.
Rothman fueled Cortland's offense with 10 points across both wins. In a thrilling 11-10 double-overtime victory against Ithaca, the senior midfielder tallied 2 goals and 3 assists to help lead the Red Dragons beat the Bombers. He followed that up with a dominant 4-goal, 3-assist effort in a 27-2 SUNYAC win against Potsdam. Rothman also collected 3 ground balls on the week and was a consistent playmaker in both matchups.
Bowen anchored the Red Dragons' defense, totaling 6 caused turnovers and 9 ground balls across the two games. He had a standout performance in the win over Ithaca, recording 5 caused turnovers and 6 ground balls while playing a key role in shutting down the Bombers' attack. Bowen added another caused turnover and 3 ground balls in the SUNYAC win over Potsdam.
