Bartle’s Late Game-Winner Lifts Roos Past Plattsburgh and into SUNYAC Women's Basketball Semis

Canton, NY – Natalie Bartle gave Canton the lead for good with 13.9 seconds remaining finishing the and-one to lift the Roos to a thrilling 61-58 win against Plattsburgh State in a SUNYAC First Round playoff game in front of a packed crowd on Tuesday evening in the Roos House.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Canton led 5-0 and 11-6 early on before taking their largest lead at 17-9 with 52 seconds left in the opening quarter after a Pabo pullup jumper. The Roos led 17-11 at the end of the first quarter.
- The hosts opened the second quarter on a 10-0 run to take a commanding 27-14 lead just over two minutes into the second stanza. The Roos first half lead would balloon to as many as 15 (33-18) after Pabo found Abigail Rice for a layup with 3:43 left in the second quarter.
- The Cardinals responded with a 9-0 run to get within 33-27 before Canton scored three straight points to take a 36-27 lead into intermission.
- Pabo led all players with 10 first-half points, while Kat McRobbie-Taru had seven and Hope Aniceto and Rice added six each. Jaden Wilson led the visitors with eight points on 3-for-4 shooting.
- Plattsburgh State edged the Roos 15-11 in the third quarter to get within 47-42 after 30 minutes of action.
- The Cardinals kept chipping away at the deficit tying the game twice in the fourth quarter before eventually taking the lead 58-56 with 33 seconds remaining on a Wilson layup. It was their first lead of the game since it was 6-5 just over three minutes into the contest.
- Trailing by two Canton wound the clock and Bartle drove to the basket and finished strong at the basket with 13.9 seconds remaining and gave the Roos the lead for good with the and-one converting the free throw.
- The Roos played great defense on the ensuing Plattsburgh possession forcing a miss as Bartle grabbed the defensive board and got fouled. She sank both free throws with 4.9 seconds left to extend the lead to three.
- With a foul to give Pabo wisely committed a personal foul with 1.0 second on the clock and Bartle stole the ensuing inbounds pass to seal the win.
