Geneseo Captures 2015 SUNYAC women's cross country title

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Geneseo captured the 2015 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's cross country team title, Saturday at the championship meet in Plattsburgh. This is the fifth-straight and 15th overall SUNYAC team title for the Knights .
Junior Sara Rosenzweig from Geneseo was the individual champion in the 6K race, crossing the line first in a time of 21:48. Cortland's Mary Baughman and Geneseo's Olivia Ryan were second and third with times of 21:59 and 22:04 respectively.
Ryan earned the Rookie of the Year honors crossing the line before any other first-year runner.
Rosenzweig, Baughman, Ryan and Oneonta's Alyssa Drapeau are now members of the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame with a top 5 finish. Jacquie Huben finished fifth, but has previously been inducted into the hall of fame in 2013. To qualify for the SUNYAC Cross Country Hall of Fame, a runner must finish in the top 5 once, top 10 twice, or top 15 three times.Â
Seven of the top 15 finishers were from Geneseo, while four were from second place team Oneonta and two from third place team Cortland. The top 15 finishers were named to the SUNYAC Women's Cross Country All-Conference Teams.
The SUNYAC Coach of the Year award will be announced Monday after a vote from the conference coaches.
