SUNYAC Athletes of the Week - February 2, 2026
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC selects its winter Athletes of the Week recognizing 18 student-athletes from eight member institutions for their notable performances during the week of January 26 - February 1.
Men's Basketball Athlete of the Week - Mike Hancock, Potsdam
Mike Hancock had an outstanding week for the Bears. In three contests he averaged 26.3 points-per-game, 10.7 rebounds-per-game, shot 53.1 percent from the floor and 55.6 percent from 3-point range. Against Plattsburgh on Tuesday night, he posted a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds. On Friday against Canton, Hancock scored a career-high 30 points and grabbed nine boards to go with six assists. He was also six of eight from 3-point range. He closed out his weekend with 25 points and 11 rebounds against Oswego on Saturday and narrowly missed a triple-double with eight assists.
Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week - Julia Greek, Plattsburgh
Greek has been a standout for Plattsburgh State this week, delivering strong performances across three SUNYAC games. Against Potsdam, the junior guard dished out a career-high 13 assists, tying a program record and added seven points and four rebounds to lead the Cardinals to a 76-61 victory. She followed that effort at home versus Oswego State with 15 points, a game-high eight assists, and five rebounds, helping Plattsburgh secure a 76-64 win. Greek capped the week at home against Canton with 12 points, a game-high nine assists and five rebounds, continuing to contribute as a scorer and facilitator. Across the three-game stretch, she averaged 11.3 points, 10.0 assists, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.7 steals per game.
Men's Ice Hockey Athlete of the Week - Lucas Signoretti, Buffalo St.
Signoretti paced the Bengals as they earned a thrilling overtime win over Fredonia on Friday night. Signoretti tallied two goals and two assists including the game-winning goal in overtime. Both goals were also scored on power play opportunities. On the year, Signoretti leads the Bengals with nine goals, 14 assists, and 23 points.
Men's Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week - Beau Lane, Plattsburgh
Beau Lane anchored the Plattsburgh State men's ice hockey team to an undefeated weekend, earning the start in both games and recording two victories with strong performances in net. Lane opened the week with an impressive 35-save effort in a hard-fought win over Cortland, making several key stops to keep the Cardinals in control throughout the contest. He followed that performance with a dominant showing on Saturday, stopping all 21 shots he faced to secure a shutout in Plattsburgh's 6–0 victory over Morrisville. Across the two games, Lane turned aside 56 shots, posted a shutout, and played a crucial role in the Cardinals' perfect weekend, providing steady and reliable goaltending when it mattered most.
Men's Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week - Bryan Tang, Skidmore
Tang led the way for Skidmore in a road sweep of Morrisville and Cortland with four goals and two assists for six points, including a Friday night hat trick with an assist as the Thoroughbreds beat the Mustangs 12-1. He then scored the overtime game winner on Saturday at Cortland in the final minute of the extra session.
Women's Ice Hockey Athlete of the Week - Katie Mahoney, Cortland
Mahoney played a key role in a pair of Cortland victories over the weekend, finishing with four points on three goals, including one game-winning goal, and one assist. She also won 24-of-36 faceoffs (66.7%) and registered an on-ice rating of (+3) for the weekend. In a 4-0 home victory over Morrisville on Friday, the junior scored the game-winning goal in seven minutes into the contest, and later added a second goal in the same frame. Mahoney followed it up on Saturday with a goal and an assist, assisting on the first Cortland goal and then tying the game at 2-2 with a goal in the second period.
Women's Ice Hockey Goaltender of the Week - Molly Lenihan, Canton
Lenihan combined to stop 74 of the 76 shots she faced (.974 save percentage) in an unbeaten weekend in a home-and-home series with Oswego. The junior recorded a 44 save shutout, her second of the season and sixth of her career, in a 1-0 road win at Oswego on Friday. She stopped at least 14 shots in every period including 16 in the third period of the win. On Saturday Lenihan turned aside 30 of the 32 shots she faced (.938 save percentage) in a 2-2 OT tie against the Lakers.
Women's Ice Hockey Rookie of the Week - Zoe Puc, Plattsburgh
First-year Zoe Puc played a key role in a perfect weekend for the Plattsburgh State women's ice hockey team, helping the Cardinals earn a pair of victories over SUNY Potsdam. On Friday, Puc recorded one assist in Plattsburgh's 3–1 win, setting up the game-winning goal to propel the Cardinals past the Bears. She followed that performance with a strong offensive showing on Saturday, scoring two goals in a dominant 5–0 shutout of Potsdam. Across the two-game series, Puc totaled three points, including the game-winning assist and two goals, while helping Plattsburgh finish the week undefeated.
Men's Swimmer of the Week - Isaac Stoeckle, Penn State Behrend
Stoeckle was a part of seven broken records this weekend in a pair of meets for the Lions. Individually, he broke the pool and team record in the 50 back (22.75) in the lead-off position of the pool and team record-breaking 200 MR (1:31.41). He also set a new pool record in the 100 backstroke (49.53) and swam in the 200 free relay that set a new team record (1:24.20). The 200 free relay team broke the record again on Sunday against Fredonia (1:23.98). On Sunday, Stoeckle swam on the winning 400 medley relay that broke the school record in 3:26.27.
Men's Diver of the Week - Kevin Kohlhoff, Cortland
Kohlhoff captured both diving titles at the five-team U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Memorial Invitational. He finished first out of nine competitors in 1-meter diving with a six-dive score of 300.05 points and first of seven on the 3-meter board with a score of 296.15 points.
Women's Swimmer of the Week - Camryn Watters, Penn State Behrend
Watters swam on the winning 400 medley relay that set a new pool record with a time of 4:04.21 vs. Fredonia. She also won the 200 free (2:03.92). Against Gannon on Saturday, she won the 100 backstroke (1:00.96) and was second in the 200 backstroke (2:14.02)
Women's Diver of the Week - Auttumn Ayakawa, Cortland
Ayakawa won 3-meter diving with a season-best six-dive score of 290.60 points and finished third on the 1-meter board with a score of 232.45 points at the five-team U.S. Merchant Marine Academy Memorial Invitational. There were nine competitors in each event.
Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week - Zion Cheatham, Cortland
Cheatham won the 200-meter dash in a field of 83 competitors in 22.34 seconds and anchored Cortland's winning 4x200-meter relay team that finished in 1:28.84 at the Ithaca College Invitational. Both times are AARTFC qualifiers, and the 200-meter time is ranked fourth in the SUNYAC.
Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week - Isaiah Brunache, Cortland
Brunache finished first of 46 in the shot put with a distance of 16.33 meters and was second of 47 in the weight throw at 17.22 meters at the Ithaca College Invitational. The shot put effort ranks 22nd nationally in Division III and first in the SUNYAC, and both performances are AARTFC qualifiers.
Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week - Grace Yarkosky, Plattsburgh
Yarkosky delivered a record-breaking performance in the 400-meter dash at the Bomber Invitational. The senior posted a time of 57.42 seconds, FINISHING FIRST and setting a new indoor program record and earning an AARTFC qualifying mark.
Women's Indoor Field Athelte of the Week - Reilly Quinn, Cortland
Quinn placed first out of 36 athletes in the long jump at 5.50 meters (18' 0.5") and was third of 21 in the high jump at 1.62 meters (5' 3.75") at the Ithaca College Invitational. Both performances are AARTFC qualifiers, and she accomplished them at the same time with the events occurring at opposite ends of the facility. Her long jump is currently the best in the SUNYAC this season and her high jump is tied for second in the conference.
Men's Wrestler of the Week - Angelo Centrone, Cortland
Centrone posted a 3-0 record with one pin, one technical fall, and one major decision for Cortland at the Red Dragon Quad Meet on Saturday afternoon. The senior opened the day with a pin in 2:10 as Cortland earned a dual win over Delaware Valley. He then posted an 11-3 major decision over TCNJ's JJ Giordano, the 16th-ranked wrestler in the nation by The Open Mat. Centrone finished the day with a 21-5 technical fall in 3:42 to help lead the Red Dragons to a dual win over Oswego.
Men's Wrestling Rookie of the Week - Sean Aldrich, Utica
Aldrich had a breakthrough day for the Pioneers at Lycoming College's Rennie Rodarmel Allstate Invitational, placing second in the 149-pound bracket. En route to his silver-medal placement, Aldrich defeated Muhlenberg's Jay Lenio and Misericordia's Brady Quinn, each by fall within two minutes. He began his day against Lenio, taking a 6-1 lead in the match before securing the fall after 1:38. In his matchup with Quinn, Aldrich was down 5-2, but was able to flip the momentum, completing the pin at 1:57. Aldrich lost to King's College's Shane Kibler in the first place match via tech fall.
