SUNYAC Athletes of the Week - March 2, 2026
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC selects its spring Athletes of the Week highlighting performances of six student-athletes from five different member institutions.
Baseball Athlete of the Week - Talon Elkins, Cortland
Elkins went a combined 5-for-7 with a double, three walks, two RBI and two runs scored in a doubleheader versus nationally third-ranked Kean. In Cortland's 12-10 win in Game 1, he finished 3-for-4 with two walks, a double and two runs, and he also was the winning pitcher in relief with one and a third innings of two-hit ball, allowing one run and one walk with two strikeouts. In a 4-4 tie in Game 2, Elkins was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBI.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week - Jake Quigley, Oneonta
Junior Jake Quigley helped Oneonta to a 8-1 win over Wooster on Saturday. He went 5.0 innings with three hits, one run, one walk and five strikeouts for a 1.80 ERA.
Men's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week - Sean Kavanagh, Cortland
Kavanagh had a strong week for the nationally 10th-ranked Red Dragons, finishing with 17 points on eight goals and nine assists, while also adding seven ground balls and three caused turnovers, across two games. In a 24-7 road win at Brockport, the junior registered a career-high nine points on six goals and three assists, also adding three ground balls and two caused turnovers. That followed an eight-point performance at St. Lawrence on Wednesday, where he had two goals, six assists, four ground balls, and one caused turnover.
Men's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week - Saka Thompson, Potsdam
Thompson made 20 saves with a .883 save percentage in a 9-4 win at Utica in the Bears season opener.
Women's Lacrosse Offensive Athlete of the Week - Emilee Josker, Buffalo State
Josker had an impressive start to the season in Buffalo State's dominant 22-0 victory over Geneva. Josker scored eight goals with three assists, three groundballs, three draw controls, and six caused turnovers to lead the way for the Bengals.
Women's Lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week - Kenadie Garrow, Canton
Garrow recorded a goal, team-high five ground balls and game-high three caused turnovers as the Roos earned a 9-7 road win at Alfred State on Saturday. Her score with 25 seconds left in the first half helped give Canton a 7-4 halftime lead as they outscored the Pioneers 4-1 in a key second quarter. The five ground balls and three caused turnovers were both career-highs for the sophomore.
