Record Breaking Performances by Track and Field Athletes of the Week
MEN’S TRACK ATHLETE – Buffalo State
Alex Ngabo (Rochester, NY/Greece-Athena), freshman
Alex Ngabo was second in three different events at the Nazareth College ROC City Track and Field Classic, including the 1,500-meter run, where he broke a 31-year-old school record with a time of 3:59.69. He was also second in the 800 (1:55.16) and the 5,000-meter runs (15:50.51).
WOMEN’S TRACK ATHLETE – Plattsburgh
Joanne TeRiele (Canton, NY/Hugh C. Williams), senior
Joanne TeRiele set a new stadium record at the Nazareth College ROC City Track and Field Classic, winning the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:05.99. TeRiele also placed second in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.19 seconds.
MEN’S FIELD ATHLETE – Cortland
Tomas Velasquez (Catskill, NY/Catskill), senior
Tomas Velasquez finished fourth out of 20 competitors and was the top Div. III finisher in the long jump at the Cornell Spring Invitational. His distance of 7.06 meters (23 feet, 2 inches) is an ECAC qualifier and is currently the 10th-best distance nationally in Div. III.
WOMEN’S FIELD ATHLETE- Oswego
Brittany DalCais (Hewitt, NJ/West Milford)
Brittany DalCais won the pole vault at the Nazareth/Rochester City Classic with a school-record height of 3.25 meters (10 feet, 8 inches) to qualify for the ECAC Championships. The height bettered the school record by eight inches, and is tied for the best mark in the conference.
