Van Pelt and Honored with PrestoSports Women's Volleyball Weekly Awards
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) has selected Nicole Van Pelt from Cortland and Emily Haber from Geneseo as this week's PrestoSports Women's Volleyball Athletes of the Week.
Van Pelt finished with 52 kills, a .231 attack percentage and five aces in four games for Cortland at the Red Dragon Classic. She had 15 kills in a four-set win over Nazareth, 13 kills in a sweep of Arcadia, and 12 kills in a sweep of St. Lawrence. Earlier in the week, Van Pelt had 12 kills and two aces in a five-set loss at Ithaca.
Haber, the junior defensive specialist led the Knights in digs over their first week of action, tallying 76 over four matches against just two reception errors and averaging a conference-best 5.43 digs per set. She tallied a season-best 26 digs and three aces in the Knights' five-set loss to Baldwin-Wallace on Friday. Haber added 11 assists, six service aces and a kill as she earned Mount Union Invitational All-Tournament Team honors.
