Kathy Taylor Selected as IWLCA Empire Region Coach of the Year
SUNY Cortland women's lacrosse head coach Kathy Taylor has once again been chosen as the Division III Empire Region Coach of the Year by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA).
In 2012, Taylor led Cortland to a 20-2 record, which included a 19-game winning streak. The program won its 14th straight State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) title and made a return trip to the NCAA Div. III semifinals. The 19-game win streak was snapped in the Final Four with a 7-5 loss to eventual national champion Trinity (Conn.). Following the season, Taylor coached the North squad to a victory at the IWLCA North-South Senior All-Star Game.
Taylor also earned regional Coach of the Year honors in 2011 after guiding Cortland to a school-record 21 wins. In her four seasons at Cortland, Taylor has a combined record of 72-14, which includes two straight Final Four appearances. She is a Cornell University alumna and won two state titles (2004 and 2005) while the head coach at Fayetteville-Manlius High School.
