Cody Petre Earns D3baseball.com Team of Week Honors
Cortland junior reliever Cody Petre (Silver Spring/Letchworth) has been named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week after being named the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending March 17.
The national “Team of the Week” consists of the top players for the week, by position, among all Division III schools. Petre is the lone relief pitcher on the squad.
Petre pitched a combined six hitless and scoreless innings in three relief appearances in Florida. He earned a save with three innings, striking out four and walking two, in a 9-8 win over Franklin & Marshall. He also tossed a hitless inning vs. nationally 20th-ranked Webster and two hitless innings vs. Rowan.
For the season, Petre has two saves and a 1.04 ERA in five appearance. Cortland (10-4), ranked third in the latest D3baseball.com poll, had its game at Rochester postponed on Wednesday, March 20. The Red Dragons will open SUNYAC play with three games at New Paltz March 22-23 - one game Friday at 3 p.m. and two on Saturday at noon.
