Cortland's Iacomini Earns Spot on D3baseball.com National Team of the Week
Cortland junior third baseman Anthony Iacomini (South Salem/John Jay-Cross River) has been chosen to the D3baseball.com national “Team of the Week” for the week ending April 28. The team consists of the top players for the week, by position, among all Division III schools. Iacomini is the lone third baseman on the squad.
Iacomini batted .818 (9-for-11) with six runs scored, two walks, a steal and an .846 on-base percentage in four Cortland wins. He was 3-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored in a victory over Cazenovia, went 2-for-2 in a win over Mt. St. Mary and was 2-for-3 with a walk in two separate games at Fredonia.
Through the end of the regular season, Iacomini is batting .356 with 10 RBI, three steals and 19 runs scored and has a .954 fielding percentage (three errors in 65 total chances). Cortland (31-9) will be the top seed and host of the four-team SUNYAC tournament May 3-5 and will open versus Fredonia Friday at noon.
