Cortland Sweeps SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Awards
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Cortland teammates Domenic Settimo, Luca Durante and Delvin O'Kane have been selected as the SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Athlete, Goaltender and Rookie of the Week respectively.
Settimo helped lead Cortland to a pair of conference wins last weekend, scoring four goals. In a 6-1 victory at Brockport on Friday, Settimo tallied four goals, two shorthanded, all in the opening 20 minutes of play. He also won 14-of-20 face-offs and finished with a +4 rating. In a 2-1 home win versus third-ranked Geneseo on Saturday, Settimo won seven face-offs and finished even with his +/- rating. For the season, he's tied for the team lead in scoring with nine points on a team-high five goals and four assists
Durante led Cortland to a pair of SUNYAC victories last weekend, posting a 2-0 record with a 1.00 GAA, 72 saves and a .973 save percentage. In a 6-1 win at Brockport on Friday, Durante stopped s season-high 42 shots. The next night in a 2-1 home victory versus nationally third-ranked Geneseo, he turned aside 30 shots, including two saves in the final minute to preserve the victory. For the season, Durante has posted a 4-2-1 record and lowered his GAA to 3.09 and raised his save percentage to .917 with the two wins over the weekend.
O'Kane netted two goals and finished with a +3 rating in two Cortland conference wins last weekend. In a 6-1 victory at Brockport on Friday, O'Kane scored the Red Dragons' final goal midway through the third period and recorded a +2 rating. He then tallied the game-winning goal at 16:09 of the second period in a 2-1 home win versus nationally third-ranked Geneseo on Saturday. For the season, O'Kane has registered two goals and an assist.
