Fensterstock, Norrman and Dameski Take SUNYAC Ice Hockey Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC selected Geneseo's Cooper Fensterstock as this week's Men's Ice Hockey Athlete of the Week. Buffalo State's Emil Norrman earned his second Goaltender of the Week honor as Alex Dameski from Geneseo was named the Rookie fo the Week.
Fensterstock helped lead Geneseo to wins over Oswego and Cortland this past weekend. Against the Red Dragons, the Charleston, SC native recorded two goals, included the game winner and against the Lakers he added an assist. He finished the weekend with an impressive +/- of +5 as the Knights took out Oswego 4-3 in overtime and Cortland 4-2.
Norrman had an incredible weekend in goal, leading Buffalo State to a pair of victories over the weekend, including a victory over SUNYAC-leading Plattsburgh State on Saturday. For the weekend, Norrman registered a .946 save percentage, and a 2.46 goals against average, while making 87 saves across two games. Saturday night might have been the best performance in Norrman's storied Buffalo State career, making a season-high 52 saves and allowing just one goal for a .981 save percentage as the Bengals upset nationally-sixth ranked Plattsburgh State to clinch a spot in this year's SUNYAC playoffs. On Friday evening, Norrman stopped 35 shots as Buffalo State earned a 5-4 overtime victory over Potsdam.
