OSWEGO, N.Y. - Plattsburgh defeated Oswego, 2-1, to win the 2023 SUNYAC men's ice hockey championship, Saturday night. This is the Cardinal's first conference crown since 2017 and 24th overall. With the win Plattsburgh earned an automatic berth into the NCAA tournament.
Plattsburgh goaltender, Eli Shiller, was named the SUNYAC Tournament MVP after making 26 saves in the final game and 41 saves in the semifinal. Shiller allowed just one game in each game.
Elite 20
The SUNYAC Elite 20, an award modeled after the NCAA ELITE 90 program, recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the conference championship level in his or her sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or her peers. This year's winner is Oswego's Noah Bull, a junior business administration major with a 3.93 GPA.
