Neumann, Creenan and Monteleone Earn SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Honors
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The SUNYAC has picked Morrisville's Trevor Neumann as this week's Men's Ice Hockey Athlete of the Week while teammate Ryan Creenan was named the Goaltender of the Week. Brockport's Alex Monteleone was named the Rookie of the Week.
Neumann led Morrisville to a 1-1 week on the ice, collecting a total five points behind three goals and two assists. The sophomore registered a goal and two assists to begin the week in a Wednesday night win over Potsdam, posting the game winner early in the third period, while finishing with a +3 on-ice rating. He followed with two goals against no. 12 ranked Plattsburgh in a 4-3 loss Saturday in four shot attempts, while posting a +1 on-ice rating.
Creenan posted a 1-1 record in net over the week, recording a combined 87 saves and .926 save percentage across two SUNYAC games. He began the week with a 25 save performance in a 6-3 win over Potsdam, before following with a career high 62 stops against no. 12 ranked Plattsburgh in a 4-3 loss. In that contest, the sophomore registered a .939 save effort in 59 minutes of action. The effort against Plattsburgh was also a single game record all-time for the Mustangs by a netminder.
Monteleone scored Brockport's only goal against Geneseo on Friday in conference action. The Golden Eagles fell to the Knights, 4-1.
