Glamos, Norrman and Bonfield Honored with SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Awards
SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Buffalo State teammates Joe Glamos and Emil Norrman have been named the SUNYAC Men's Ice Hockey Athlete and Goaltender of the week while Plattsburgh's Ryan Bonfield has been selected as the Rookie of the Week.
Glamos was a catalyst for the Buffalo State offense in a pair of non-conference victories over Alvernia University last weekend. The sophomore forward netted two goals and also dished out two assists, while recording a plus/minus rating of +3 as well. On Friday night, Glamos scored the goal to give the Bengals the lead for good early in the second period, and sealed the victory with an empty-net goal in a 5-2 win. On Saturday, Glamos had two assists, including registering the primary assist on the game-tying goal, and another assist to extend the Buffalo State lead in the second period of a 5-1 win.
Norrman backstopped Buffalo State to a 2-0 week with a pair of non-conference victories over Alvernia University on Friday and Saturday. The senior goaltender posted a .953 save percentage and 1.50 goals against average for the weekend, stopping 61 of 64 shots on goal in the two games. On Friday night, Norrman made 33 saves in a 5-2 Buffalo State victory, and followed that performance up by stopping 28 of 29 shots in a 5-1 Bengals' win on Saturday.
Bonfield tallied two points on a goal and an assist while fashioning a +3 rating in a 1-1-0 showing for the Cardinals at the Comfort Inn Complex Winter Classic. He scored his second collegiate goal in a 5-2 win over the Wentworth Institute of Technology on Friday before providing an assist on the Cardinals' lone score in a 2-1 setback to No. 8 Oswego State in the championship game on Saturday. For the season, he has nine points on two goals and seven assists.
