SUNYAC teams ranked in first NSCAA poll of 2014 season
Five State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) men's and women's soccer programs have been ranked in the first week of National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) polls. Oneonta, Brockport, and Fredonia were ranked in the men's, while Brockport and Geneseo represented the SUNYAC on the women's side.
The Oneonta (1-0) men's program is the No. 13 ranked team in the nation and No. 2 in the East, coming off of a season-opening 4-0 win over Ithaca College.
Brockport (1-0-1), also received votes for a national Top 25 ranking, while being ranked the No. 4 team in the East region. In the first week of the season, they beat St. Mary's (MD) 1-0 in overtime and tied Salisbury 2-2 in two overtimes.
The Fredonia men are slotted as No. 6 in the East region, following season-opening wins over Hampden-Sydney, 2-1, and Dickinson, 1-0.
On the women's side, Brockport is ranked No. 8 in the NSCAA East region, after winning their first two games of the season, 2-1 in overtime vs. Drew, and 2-0 over Centenary.
The Geneseo women, ranked No. 10 in this week's East region, kicked off their season with wins over Baldwin Wallace, 2-0, and Oberlin, 1-0.
