Four SUNYAC soccer players honored by ECAC
CORTLAND, N.Y. – Four State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) athletes have been honored by the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) this week. For soccer, Francesco Cardillo (Tonawanda, N.Y.) has been chosen as the Offensive Player of the Week, Hunter Hein (East Amherst, N.Y.) has been honored as the Defensive Player of the Week, Rachel Parker (Marathon, N.Y.) has been picked as the Offensive Player of the Week andRenee Walker (Coram, N.Y.) has been honored as the Defensive Player of the week.
Cardillo, Buffalo State's senior midfielder helped the Bengals go 3-0 on the week. He had an assist in the 2-0 shutout win over Potsdam, and then had two crucial goals in the 2-1 win over Plattsburgh. One was the game-tying goal with three seconds remaining in regulation, and the second was the game-winner.
Hein, Buffalo State's goalkeeper did not allow a goal for more than 247 minutes. He recorded two shutouts, one against Alfred and one against Potsdam. He also played for 67 minutes against Plattsburgh and also did not allow a goal.
Parker helped Cortland post a 1-0-1 record over the weekend. She had five points with two goals against Brockport, and an assist on the game-tying goal against Geneseo.
Walker recorded her fourth consecutive shutout this week helping Cortland post a 1-0-1 record this past weekend. She had seven saves against Brockport, and had six saves in a 1-1 tie against Geneseo.
