Three SUNYAC soccer players honored by ECAC
The Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) has announced their weekly honors for the week ending November 9, 2014. Three State University of New York Athletic Conference soccer players have been honored this week. Geneseo's Leah Greene (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) and her teammate Karlee McCorry (Spenserport, N.Y.) have been named the Women's Soccer Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week while Jake Sutherland (Syracuse, N.Y.) of Oneonta, has earned the Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Greene had one of the most important goals of her young career this past week. The freshman headed in the game-winning goal with 59 seconds left in the SUNYAC Championship game. She also added a goal and two assists in the semifinal victory against Plattsburgh.
McCorry aided Geneseo's defense in their two shutouts in the SUNYAC Tournament. For the entire tournament, opponents were only able to get off six shots on goal.
Sutherland was the key component for the Red Dragons in the SUNYAC Championship game. He scored the only two goals for Oneonta as they went on to claim the SUNYAC title against Cortland with a score of 2-1.
